|
|
Well I for one really appreciate the information/users here on TH. Just out of curiosity, how long has TH been around? Who are some of the oldest posters? Who supports TH? Would there be a way to donate to help with the cost/maintenance of the website? I'd love to donate a little bit.......I'm sure others would love to as well....NOW I'm not promoting membership fees!!!
Thanks for any info! _________________ Philippians 1:6 |

You can find out who has been on the current website the longest if you take a look at the Memberlist (top left).
You can also find out who has the most posts ( ) and other stuff. |

You can check out the Wayback Machine to see archived views of the Trumpet Herald.
I think one of the best ways to support TH is to support TH advertisers!
[Edit -- The forum software won't let me link straight to the view of TH. I've given a link straight to the Wayback Machine, you'll have to type in TH's URL yourself. Well worth the effort, IMO.] _________________ Steve Thiel

Current, yes. Some of us are still around who go back to the earliest years of the TH when the site was made up of stings of posts, much like some usenet sites. Some of the regulars back then don't seem to post anymore, for whatever reason. Bill Mirrielees used to be one of those regulars who I have not seen author a post in ages.

Hi Larry,
I was browsing through the TH today in search of news from my friend Flip Oakes. Flip lives in Oceanside and is right smack dab in the midst of the wildfires. He responded pretty quickly that he's OK but the area is "...a sad sight...terrible".
Just stumbled onto this thread - haven't visited here in ages.
Yep, I sure remember the old days, I think from 1995-96 or so. Many of us emigrated to TH from "TrumpetGeeks" which is where I think I first ran into you if I'm not mistaken.
I'm alive and well - am working in Wlmington NC but still live in Madison (Huntsville) Alabama. If the job situation continues to progress I will be moving the family out here sometime next year.
When I first joined TH I remember it being a usenet type posting procedure also. Everything seemed to be Trumpet related. Very little "ignore this post" type threads. Membership was pretty small. Disagreements between posters was spirited but civilized. Can't recall the nastiness and name calling stuff that I remember seeing here over the last few years.
I guess the world has changed and with it the TH. I am glad for Todd's sake that it's as big as it is now. I sincerely hope he has benefitted from the growth. He's a great, hard working guy.
Up until my move to NC in August of this year I had been playing pretty actively but haven't touched the horn since then. I'm sure I'll find some way to get back into "trumpet trouble" soon.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Best regards,

Hey Bill,
It's great to hear from you. Sounds like you're doing well and I hope you're still finding some time to play the horn now and then.
Oh, and I'm doing okay as well. My wife and I just spent a fortune redecorating our house. It's like building a home from the inside out. Very disruptive but we are beginning to get everything reorganized again. The bad part, though, is that the money for the house has at least temporarily put a stop to my horn buying.
All the best,
Larry |
