I (my parents) purchased a used X3 with a Beryllium bell in 1976 – back when Schilke used actual beryllium. Great horn! It was the horn I grew up on, played in college and just recently replaced it with a Lawler. I played it in concert band, big band (section part), church gigs and brass quintet. Good all around horn that served me well for 30+ years.

I like it because for me itīs an easy player with the resistance even at the whole range. Though itīs lightweight it offers a good slotting.
The sound has enough core to cut through.

I have no problems with air, like some of my friends using a X3. I was testing it several times, first time years ago and I always liked it over the other models of Schilke.
Regards,
Herbert
