Saw 'Jersey Boys' at the LaSalle Bank Theatre in Chicago yesterday. A killer show with terrific music recalling performances by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. ("Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Walk Like a Man," "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and more).

Not a lot of trumpet playing but what there is sure requires an absolute lack of fear of heights. In two numbers a horn section comes out on a narrow catwalk that looks to be 20 or 30 feet above the stage. Freaked me out to think what it would be like playing in that settting. I've gotten dizzy on normal risers.

Not sure who the players were. The program listed only one, Carey Deadman, a North Texas State (now UNT) grad who plays shows and has a business in Chicago writing horn parts.

Updating this thread for the modern times we're in.

'Jersey Boys' is back in Chicago, but no horn section! Parts of this tour are too cheap to be true

I saw that article about the lack of horns in Jersey Boys. It's about time that a critic called out a show for reducing the number of musicians.
