I was recently checking out an Ebay Auction where the seller had made a trumpet(Combination Olds Embassador, Getzen Leadpipe, copper bell) for auction which he had produced personally while in repair Tech school. He stated he was now a NAPBIRT member. The horn looked very nicely put together.....it did not sell(BIN apprx $600).

I am sure there must be some great horns put together in these schools by guys who are the future minds of the industry.

Have any of you ever purchased one of these horns made by students? Do any of these schools ever market the trumpets that are produced?

Seems like the possibilities of getting a special horn for a very reasonable price would be excellent.

Do repair tech "schools" actually exist anymore? Other than some minor repair learned in college by music ed majors, I thought that most repair techs learned their craft by apprenticing in a commercial repair shop.

Up in Elkhorn WI, there is Badger State Repair. They are a nationally recognized repair tech training facility.

I turned a battered Bundy into a bugle for one project. It actually plays, and in tune!

I would wager Red Wing (I think thats the name) students would have some instruments they sell off now and then.
