David:

I tried to send you an email, but it failed.

I can definitely tell you there are no ads up there under your account. Don't know what happened there, but you'll need to place the ad again.

Thanks,
td

Thanks for the post.

So, I'm okay to try this again tonight ?
That is, I've completed all prerequisites for the Market place ?
Just a note on my experience to this point..
After I submitted my AD text and five photos, the next page
seemed to be prompting for yet another AD .. but no good/bad feedback.
Should I be getting a dialog say it passed or failed ?
Just wondering.

Thanks !
David

Does this site support Mozilla Firefox ?
I uploaded again and nothing is on the site for Cornet/Flugelhorn..just as before.
I see my pass-phrase, type my PIN... fill everything out and submit pictures.
I guess I'll try again without pictures.

Right now, there's an ad that is labelded as a scam in the marketplace by this poster

http://www.trumpetherald.com/marketplace.php?task=detail&id=106

It even says that it's a scam. If that is true, then why hasn't it been removed?

BTW, I have nothing against this poster personally. Back before the Marketplace closed for a while, this same guy had posted another horn. I corresponded with him by e-mail but never went thru with the deal. His correspondence was fine & sounded like a decent guy.

I don't have any ads up so I'm not sure, - make sure you are logged in to edit.

Personally I'm getting tired of seeing horntraders 15 or so ads being relisted every 2 or 3 days. Is that really necessary?!?!?!?

I think there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. The FREE service of allowing TH users to list things "should" be for individuals, NOT an established company. If someone has a website, such as Horntrader and others, they should not be allowed to list things. Definitely not list excessive items and keep relisting them every few days.....

Perhaps the best way to control it is to have a max. number of active listings? I would see no reason for most individual users to have more than 4 active listings. Set the limit at 3, 4, or 5.

Did the mods write in red font "Scam, do not respond"? across the top of that ad? If so, why not just delete it?

Regardless of how the words got there, please delete the listing, or get the lister to edit the scam stuff.

It might be an attempt at humor? Maybe so, I fail to see anything funny about scams and people getting ripped off.....

The mods have no access to the marketplace, or at least no more than anyone else. For issues there, drop a PM to Todd (sysadmin, username trumpetherald). Keeping the forums running is enough... - Don

Seems like the recent changes in the Marketplace have been helpful.

I see few complaints about scammers. I also like the new system of viewing the photos. Anyone else think things have improved? I thank the moderators for their work.

Hi there:

I posted the red scam ad text. I did that so that users could see a good example of a scam ad. Those ads are due to expire soon.

I too am troubled by the use of the Marketplace by businesses. Right now 20 ads is the max, I think. Perhaps this is too high? 5 or 10 might be a better limit.

I made on offer to an advertiser in the marketplace, but the e-mail is stuck in my outbox and does not appear at all in my sent box. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you sent a PM, it stays in your Outbox until the recepient receives it, then it moves to your Sentbox. So, the person to whom you sent the message has not gotten it yet. - Don

I apparently have an active account, but I can't activate it without the pin and I don't have a record of what that is. Maybe the admin can pm me on that? Thanks!

Having been away from TH for a year or so, it's great to see it still the central hub for players. Thanks for sticking with it!

TRUMPETHERALD: Sorry, tried to PM you but have been unsuccesful. Today my security phrase did correctly appear. But I don't recall ever establishing a 4-digit PIN. And I have used up my "attempts" trying codes I typically use. Now I am locked out. Any help would be much appreciated. And thanks for all the time and effort you put in to making this work for us all - it's a great service.
