I play on a Heim 1, and I have a few monettes and love the way they slot and sound. Are there any monettes that are comparable, or will I have to order a custom one? If anyone has ordered custom monettes, do they do a good job or just slap a different name on an already common model? Thanks.

I'm sure if you call them they would be happy to help.

I recently sent them a Bach mouthpiece I liked (I called beforehand). Dean measured it and told me which of theirs was closest. They were right. They are very helpful.

check out my post about the gustat copy i did with a monette type shank.

It has the the slotting and vibe of the monette style mouthpiece.

I copied the outside of the hiem (gustat) as well and it still has the slot feel as the monette.

You can possibly have the heim short shanked and have the throat opened.
This would not work if the bacbore on the heim is fairly big.
The gustat has a pretty big backbore and a short throat. That is why I made a complete new copy with the short shank, long throat and short backbore.

I just did it yesterday, so the jury is still out, but it has a great upper register for a pretty deep mouthpiece. The cup shank is kind of like a reverse parduba. It's "v" shaped in the top of the cup, and blow shaped in the bottom of the cup.

It looks as though gustat may have simply taken a regular hiem mouthpiece and simply made it wider at the top of the cup. The rim is pretty thin.
The rims come in two shapes. number 1 is a reverse contour, just like a sanders. The number 2 is a normal contour. I liked the reverse contour better. When I did my copy, i did it with my regular rim similar to the monette B6.
