Agreed, Steve! (I like his '55 Mendez cornet just a little more, I think.)

Thanks guys!
I'm lucky to have an understanding wife.
The Mendez came with the original factory card......Signed by Rafael! The 80 year old lady who sold it at a garage sale got him to sign it at a show in Ohio somewhere back in the 60s, he also signed the show program which was in the case....
Just to lighten things up, how about a nice bunny with a pancake on his head?

My 1960 Connstellation 38B

I was lucky enough to find this horn when someone mislabeled it as a 36B. I guess they never measured the bell It is in great condition with the nickel plating almost perfect. (excuse my bad lighting) It is a perfect match with my Committee.

Here's one from the archives - a '55 Mt. Vernon Strad I used to own.

Yep - a few years ago on eBay for a little over $2000. Spent $1100 buying the Bach 184G cornet I now have and put the rest in my daughter's college fund. It looked pretty and was a good player, but no better than my '77 ML43 Strad.

I got one of the new piccolos made by Hub van Laar. I think it looks as good as it plays...

The body is goldbrushed and the bell is goldplated (shiny).

I'm not sure I understand the last two posts, but if you really want to hear something sick, I bought the Mt. Vernon at an antique (mostly junk) auction for $60......

It wasn't very pretty, though - it had a beat up bell and most of the lacquer was gone. I had Southeastern Musical do a gentle repair and relacquer for about $250 (years ago), so I had all of $310 in it .

Just to add some colour:

The first one is a student Zenith Lafleur I had for a while which I decided to try to strip the lacquer off. I did and it went terrible, the sound went really bad. I know that some do not believe that lacquer can change the sound, but trust me, the difference was huge!!! First it was a rather nice student trumpet but without lacquer it became a TSO. So I painted it green and then the sound went nice again.

The second one is a Jupiter 1010 Tribune with one regular bell and one Dizzy bell, which I had for a few weeks before one of the other trumpeters in the community band bought it for his son. Actually, can you get a better upgrade horn for a 13 or 14 year old boy who spends most of his days in the garage or on the enduro track?

And it is a nice player too! Especially with the turned bell, just that it cannot be stored in its case with that bell on. Not clever, Jupiter!
