Anyone played a Connstellation 38B with a so called "Electro-D bell"? There's a nice one on Ebay.

I played one in high school. I bought it used in 1976. I still have it now.

Electro-D bell was a brass bell, electrolytically plated with copper, and then electrolytically plated with nickel.

I recently acquired a late model 22B Victor trumpet with nickel valveblock, and an extremely early (about 1959, before it was catalogued, according to the Conn Loyalist site) 36B Connstellation lightweight model. Other than the 22B bottom sprung valves and Electro D components, the dimensional specs are just about identical, but the Connie is a bit heavier (2 lb 6.7 oz. Vs 2 lb 6 oz.) but not significantly so. The Victor is a nice bright easy blowing responsive horn, but the Connie has an incredibly rich tonality!

So, I would attribute that to whatever magic soup the electro-D components arose from!
