This is for you Selmer Paris fans:

My vintage 23A Selmer has a "C" stamped on the valves just below the sequential numbers (79, 80, 81). Anyone knows what this stands for?

Also, anyone knows if this serial number chart is correct? There's an ad for a very nice 23A in the marketplace right now where the seller believes otherwise. This one has the third slide ring on top where as mine, with a serial number about 500 lower has it on bottom. What's up with that?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

/Per

As far as my experience, that serial number list as well as the approximate continuation list at The Selmer Paris Central, do correspond well with the Selmer history at www.selmer.fr and their dates for new models etc.

It as been said here before that letters on the valves are the signs of the craftsmen, who put the valve together, so that it would be possible to identify the one who made the valve. I don't know if it really is true, but that's what they say.

By the way, is your 23A the one that Brass-specialisten had for sale?

Yep, that's the one - I love it! I got it about a year ago after keeping my eyes on it for quite some time. Would you know anything about it?

Oh, and thanks for your info!

No, I'm just cuirous to know if it was that one as I had my eyes on it too, for quite a long time. I just never managed to get down to Stockholm and play test it. Then I decided to buy it unseen, but it was suddenly gone. you, apparantly, but I'm glad it went to someone who likes it. I have a 24A, which I adore, but I think would be even more pleased with one of the small bore models.
