Made this request last year..so here goes.
These get togethers sound like lots of fun. It seems that the states of Florida, Georgia (and Texas?) have more than a few of these in the last couple of years. Why? Is there a large concentration of TH members in those areas?
Seems that way I think..(and I wonder why? hmmm..anyone want to offer an explanation?)
How about one in the North..where members from states such as NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA etc..could participate.
I don't know..but they mostly seem to occur in the South
How about |

i know a few spots in NYC that can get you pretty heated up so that shouldn't be a problem..
i think it's a vast conspiracy to keep me from ever sampling any new horns. |

I'll be the next one in line if it happens in the NE. I do love tryin new horns, but the prospect of having to drive more than 10 hours to do so...is a little bit ridiculous. I'm right here with ya, James.

How about in the Albany, NY area... Exactly 3 hours form NYC, and 3 hours from Boston... Good central location...
Any takers, music store owners who want to sponsor this???
(No I don't live in Albany) |

I thought this kind of thing is what the NewYork Brass Conference is all about. I once heard Pandolfi refer to it as a big "circle-j#rk."

I think the salad shooter has been sniffing a few too many paint fumes. The Northern Brass Conference, from what I've been told, is just like an over-grown MENC Conference focusing only on trumpet and trombone. Something tells me that the event in Fla. was a little bit more impromptu. Personally, I think that makes for a better event. Just a thought.

p.s. - tossed....I am sorry for the slam, but the name is just too much. |

Hi, John and All!
I've responded to several people about hosting a Trumpetfest, in the Northeast. If there is enough interest, I'm more than willing to set something up. I'm sure that we can find a convenient area for all who are interested. Please use my contact information below. or send me a private message. Thanks!
Best always,

Hey Trent, Great Idea. Let's do it at USM! Of course that's only a 20 minute drive for me:)
Boston would be cool too .... do you think the folks at Osmuns would be receptive to that?
Oh yeah.. I've been really busy lately. Hopefull I'll get you some recordings soon.

Thanks for the positive reply/interest folks! Perhaps New Jersey might be good(home of Dillons). NJ is the highway state(what exit? haha) accesible for all..sort of in the middle(except for the the folks in MA and on northward.)
Also will be easy to find an inexpensive meeting place. NYC is pretty expensive. Can you imagine? A Northern Brass exhibit in the North? |

Nu yawk would be fine if I didn't have to shell out $200 per night for a "cheap" place to sleep. Actually I'd love to have a good excuse to go the the city.
Re; the NY Brass Conference, its been about 10 years since I attended one but it is (was) VERY different from a BrucetheKarateKidatNorthernBrassGeneralLeeMouthpieceandTrumpetExtravaganza.
Hey Bruce, is that too long for a URL? Is my horn done yet?

at the NY brass conf there were so many people making soooo much noise that i couln't hear my self think
whenever i picked up a horn someone would start blasting near me and drown me out
i never got to hear myself
i'm hoping for a venue where i might actualy be able to hear? |

NJ is kind of at the southern part of the Northeast, wouldn't you say? Poor Bruce would have to drive forever. I think Boston or New York would be best, after all, they are kind of the ports of the northeastern states. If a Trumpetfest is held in NY or Boston I'd definitely be interested! _________________ Aaron G.

Yes..it seems that perhaps upstate(northern NY) would be best. Does anyone have access to space such as a church or local community center
(or local Gym..haha) that they would like to suggest? I am happy to speak with any contacts you might come up with. I am sure I could come up with something($) to make some space become available.
Lets make it happen..keep the ideas coming folks. |
