I noticed that someone had the dates wrong for the years that I played principal trumpet in the Minneapolis Symphony/Minnesota Orchestra. I started in the fall of 1960, and left after the summer season of 1972. Also, there is only one "n" in my last name.

The first time I heard a live performance of the Bozza"Rustiques" was at your senior recital at Curtis.
Manny Araujo was also on that recital.
Sam Krauss was very proud of his students.

Thanks Mr Chenette for pointing out these errors, it's a great help in compiling accurate listings of principal trumpet players. Sometimes it's difficult to get exact dates.

Stephen,
My apologies for the misspelling of your last name and the error in the dates of your tenure with the Minnesota Orchestra. The great thing about this project is that I have a "working" folder to try and correct these errors before they go into the "final" folder. This is the place where all of the Trumpet Herald members can offer comments and memories of their favorite players with their favorite orchestras. Incidently, I found the post and corrected it with the information you provided. Thanks.
Manny is working on a comprehensive list for us with names and dates of the former players with the Minnesota Orchestra, so when he sends that in, I'll be sure to transcribe his text as is (hopefully no typos!). Once the final folder is complete it would be great if you could offer some stories during your time in Minnesota.
Thanks for stopping by the Trumpet Herald! _________________ Derek Reaban

Wilmer,
Do you have any Manny Araujo stories (either in a public or private forum)? I worked with him for three years in Denver. He was a character!

| Or maybe not.....in highschool,I mean.
It was in the late 50s.
I met him only a few times during those days.

A guy by the name of Gaetano Delogu (sp?) hired me - only played for him a couple of times. Then Phillipe Entremont rode the poor DSO into a flaming bankruptcy.
Manny's nickname was "Portuguese Man-O-War". It was appropriate...
