References:
The dates and positions that I gathered for these players was from the March 2000 ITG Journal article entitled “Ray Crisara: Teaching by Example” by Keith Winking, page 36. This can be found on line and has some really great pictures!

Benny Baker reference: In the October 2000 ITG Journal Article entitled, “There Will Never Be Another Doc: An Interview with the Incomparable Doc Severinsen” by Michael Caldwell (Page 44), there is an “inset” that discusses Bernard “Benny” Baker. “Baker remained at the height of symphony, recording, and radio standards until a tour of South America by the NBC Symphony that commenced on May 31, 1941. After several days away from the instrument during travel, Baker suffered a lip injury during the first rehearsal of the tour. He was never to recover and he retired permanently from trumpet performance.”

David Glickstein reference: In the December 1994 ITG Journal article entitled, “Trumpet Players of the Cleveland Orchestra 1918 – 1993: An Addendum” by Mary Thornton (Page 55), it says, “he was with the NBC Symphony under Toscanini from 1937 – 1941”.

Books and Articles about the NBC Symphony Orchestra:

There is a fantastic book about Toscanini that I found in the library about his time with the NBC Symphony. It details every concert, season by season, that he did with the orchestra (1937 – 1954), and highlights the programs that were prepared by the many different guest conductors that worked with them as well.

“Arturo Toscanini – The NBC Years”
by Mortimer H. Frank
