am a professional trumpet player, and a collector of fine instruments. I am selling today a SCHILKE X4 trumpet in beyond mint like new condition.

The Schilke X4 was first sold in 1975, and is an extra large bore (.468) trumpet with the large (A) bell. The X4 model literally has its own extra large valve casing, the "X" casing. The X model Schilkes are very lightweight, with superb quick response and a HUGE sound.

The Schilke X1 and X2 were prototype horns, and only one of each was made. The Schilke X3 model, featuring a .463 bore, was made famous by world class trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval, who played a Schilke X3 with a few custom modifications of his own, including Amado waterkeys, a special tuning slide brace, and heavy valve caps.

The Schilke X4 model, building on the success of the X1, X2, and X3, was a large .468 bore throughout the entire horn. The X4 is a very free blowing trumpet, and will never play or sound stuffy or back up on you as a player. That is extremely important to me as a player. I do not want to play any instrument that plays like OR sounds like a pair of socks are in the bell of the horn!

Around 1956 Schilke formed "the Schilke Company" that was later incorporated as "Schilke Musical Products". Schilke had very high quality standards that most manufacturers rejected because of the cost of building one of Schilke's designs. Most of the great Schilke model trumpets we see today were developed by Schilke between 1956 and 1965. He was without question a great innovator in trumpet design, applying scientific and nodal theories to the design of his instruments. Unlike many other manufacturers, the quality and playability of Schilke trumpets remained unchanged during the generations of Schilke family management of the company.

To this day, the magnificent hand craftsmanship that has always been the hallmark of Schilke's instruments since the beginning has remained.

I am selling this super (as new) mint condition Schilke X4 trumpet for $2599.00 or BEST OFFER. A case for this fine instrument is negotiable.
