This has been my primary C for the last 3 years. It's a very early Elkhart horn and is the lowest sn elkhart 229 c I've seen (38xxx).
It now has the new DRV (Dr Valve) version of a 25H pipe in raw brass. It has been clocked in and plays better than it ever did with the 25H.
These bells are very light compared to today's standard weight bells and the colors it produces are unlike anything I've owned.
This horn was owned and played by a retired member of the Seattle symphony and was his c in the orchestra for 20 plus years. As such, there is some wear around the valve cluster but the plating is still in very good shape elsewhere. The horn must've had a 3rd slide waterkey on it at some point but it has been removed and a perfect sized nickel patch placed over the hole.
The valves have been rebuilt by Dr Valve and a 3rd slide stop has been added.
The horn will be well packed and insured for an additional $45 in the continental US
