Letting go of one of my favorite vintage horns, and one of the gems of my collection. The Conn 8B artist was a lightweight variant on the Connstellation, with a .438" bore, wide wrap, short stroke valves, and 4-5/8" bell, made entirely out of brass. These horns have the same efficient blow of the Connstellations, but are even more lively and responsive with a dense core. During the 60's, the 8B was the horn of choice for such Jazz legends as Freddy Hubbard, Lee Morgan, and Woody Shaw. This horn is almost perfectly suited to a jazz or commercial player's needs. Short stroke valves make fast passages feel like a breeze, and the small bore balanced with the open bell throat give it a powerful and compact sound all across the horn. The upper register feels incredibly easy and really resonates. This particular horn is in original lacquer with the original case and accessories (including the "Proper Care of Your Conn Instrument" pamphlet). Valves are outstanding and compression is excellent.
