|This is a postwar style VEGA Standard Model trumpet built in the late 1940s or very early 1950s. It is in it's original finish which is about 70 percent. All slides are functioning and the valves have great action with good compression even though they look worn. Ultrasonically cleaned during it's recent servicing and it is ready to sell now!|
The post war Vega trumpets had a more wider wrap than their peashooter PreWar models. Vega wasn't as popular as Conn or Hilton was back in the day but the Vega instruments were known to be high quality instruments back then and the horn has a very sturdy build to them, they are similar in build quality to the vintage Blessing Artist and Super Artist trumpets. Just well made and built strong.
The horn features a short throw valve design that some players really like because it helps them play through faster passages easier, the tone I would say is like vintage Blessings which don't have too many overtones in the sound but are compact dark sounding horns. They can be loud too.
The bell had 2 small dents removed and the repair was done so well that you can't even feel any grooves or bumps in the bell where the dents used to be but the lacquer loss from the dent removal is evident on the finish.
Horn is gig ready and comes without a case but I can include a few vintage mouthpieces. Horn will be wrapped in cellphone wrapping before being bubble wrapped to ship.
