This is a super rare Martin Custom C trumpet in lacquer! SN/ 207524) dates the trumpet to 1959, couple years before the RMC company took over. The Martin Custom series is built in combination of the Committee and Magna, and in key of C. The C trumpet was designed for Boston Symphony Orchestra principal Armando Ghitalla, so this is among the same line! I have never seen another one for sale before! The trumpet is in great mechanical shape with some most of the lacquer intact. The sound is brilliant yet warm, resonant and intonation is great! This trumpet was owned by a retired symphony principal player.

In 1961 Martin became part of Roundtable of Musical Craftsmen (RMC), the company formed by Paul Richards that combined Martin with Reynolds and Blessing. When RMC dissolved a couple years later, Wurlitzer picked up the rights to the Martin brand. Leblanc bought the Martin name in 1971, moved the operation to Kenosha, Wis., and stopped producing the Committee model for a while, though it continued to make custom versions for Miles Davis.
