Bach 72 Lightweight trumpet

This horn is in good condition and plays well. It has a few light scratches and signs of wear, but is in generally very good condition, particularly for its age. There are two or three dots along the leadpipe indicating nascent red rot, but it's really nothing to be concerned about. There are no leaks or weak spots in the metal.

Valves work great, and while not the tightest I have played as far as compression goes, the slides still produce a strong pop when pulled. There's not much wear on this horn, so I would guess that valve compression is pretty close to how it left the factory.

In order to improve the function of the third valve slide, which was misaligned at manufacture, I had the slide rebuilt. One tube was replaced, and that part is not plated, but the rest of the instrument is silver. The standard Bach slide stop mechanism was also replaced with a stop screw at that time. The slide works great now, and the instrument got an ultrasonic cleaning when it was in the shop. I only tried it out briefly after the work was done, so it's still clean.

Serial number dates to the early 70s. It has two-piece valve casings. The leadpipe is a regular 25, and the bell has the "Corporation" stamp.

This is a great sounding horn, with solid intonation and mechanics, from a great era in Bach manufacturing. Unfortunately, it's just a little bit tight for the way I like to play. I could try a large bore tuning slide or a bigger leapipe, but I have other instruments that ultimately work better for me.

I'm asking $1,500, but will consider offers. The original case – which is in great shape – is included. Shipping within the US will probably be in the neighborhood of $80, in part due to the size and weight of the case.
