I have decided to try a new C trumpet, so it's time for this Bach Chicago C to move along to its next owner. I have had it for six years, having purchased it from the original owner.

Prior to my ownership, this trumpet had a Reeves valve alignment, and several years later I had Jim Becker perform his blueprinting process on it at Osmun Music. He confirmed the valve alignment and replaced the pads with a material he felt to have better acoustic properties, maintaining the Reeves alignment. The mouthpiece receiver was also adjusted, the bell crook rounded out and excess solder cleaned out from within the instrument. The first valve slide thumb ring and third valve slide stop ring have also been moved, so there is a little bit of solder work visible, but it's all very clean.

The instrument is in excellent condition with no silver wear, only the lightest of surface scratching and a clean, uncorroded interior. The valves are tight and the slides are perfect. There is evidence on the end of the third valve slide of it having been dropped (a slight scratch and very shallow dent). I didn't do it and didn't notice it until after several years of ownership.

I love the way this horn sounds and responds. However, even after the blueprinting I find it a little tight, but that is relative to my Bb, which is a very large bore instrument (Claude Gordon). I'm finding that as a primarily Bb player, the transition to C is more of a challenge to me than I'd like with this particular instrument, so I'm going toward something with a slightly more open feel. I will miss the focus and clarity at low dynamic levels, however.

It's clean and ready to play, and will ship without case or mouthpiece.

$2300 + shipping (instrument is located in the US, and I anticipate shipping within the lower 48 to cost in the neighborhood of $50). I will consider offers, but do take into account the value of the Osmun Music blueprinting work. It's clean, in good shape and any manufacturing defects have been attended to.
