** PRICE DROP 10/13**
B&S CHALLENGER II, Model 3142/2-S. The “Brochon”.

Large bore, with two lever-style forged water keys (main tuning and 3rd valve slides), shepherd's crook bell design, 1st and 3rd valve slide triggers for quick intonation adjustments, with o-ring dampeners.
Has the darker sound required for British Brass Band music. The B&S site describes it as “a great choice for any player looking for an elegant sound required for the lyric and traditional cornet repertoire.”
Features a 4.921-inch hand hammered one-piece gold brass bell, and gold brass leadpipe, topped off with a deluxe engraving of the Brochon castle (located in Burgundy) on the bell.
Serial Number 392,xxx, this horn is in near-flawless condition, with the valves and slides all functioning perfectly. The only thing keeping it from “mint, like new” condition is a pinhead-sized ding near the castle engraving, only distinguishable when held against the light a certain way. Otherwise, it is like new. The silver plating is 100%. There is a 3rd valve dump slide and a removable section of slide before the tubing enters the 3rd valve, presumably for cleaning access.
According to the U.S. Buffet Crampon rep for B&S, in an email exchange I had with him, “the 6 digit number on the mpc receiver is actually the instrument's serial number. The number on the back of the second valve casing is insignificant and is solely used for production purposes.”
$1,000 shipped by FedEx, with insurance, (Lists for over $3,500 on-line). No case or mouthpiece.
Sales and shipping limited to the 48 CONUS.
