I’m selling my trusty 50th anniversary Schilke p5-4 Butler/Geyer. I bout this horn new and used it almost daily from the time it was new until I finished my DMA. It plays great… better sound and intonation than any other Schilke picc I’ve every played. Some other piccolos feel very stuffy to me, but this one does not and it projects better from the back of an orchestra than any horn I have ever owned. I’ve used it for baroque solos, modern solos, quintet gigs, weddings, Messiah, Rite of Spring, and everything in between. I take very good care of my horns and this trumpet has never had any repair work done. I did replace a couple of the top felts a few years ago. Considering how old this instrument is and how much it has been played, it is in fantastic shape.

I couldn’t find any wear in the silver plating. These bells are very thin, so there are quite a few dings from mutes and from trumpet stands. Around 10 years ago, I had a minor mishap with a trumpet stand that resulted in a strange uneven/wavy area on the bell. It could probably be fixed by a good repair person, but it didn’t change the playability or sound of the instrument so I never worried about it. I tried to capture this area the best I could in the last photo, but it isn’t showing up very well because of the reflections. It is probably around 1/4 of an inch. There are also a couple of dents on the top bell section from something in my case.

I’m only selling because I haven’t used the horn in a few years, but I would feel totally confident using this for any performance. $3150 + buyer pays all shipping costs. It comes with the original lead pipe and tarnish bag, but no case or mouthpiece. Email for additional info or for more pictures.
