TRADITION
There is no doubt that European trumpet design, particularly by French manufacturers such as Selmer and Besson, has had a significant influence on American trumpets. French innovations, like the development of the Périnet valve system, have shaped the evolution of trumpets since. Many of today’s trumpets still borrow heavily from the designs of Henri Selmer, and the company he founded.
Selmer trumpets have always been distinct: with ornate trim and refinement of fit-and-finish, to that iconic balanced wrap, or that bold radial valve design, and more. Innovative. Elegant. Refined. These are hallmarks of the Selmer legacy.
INNOVATION
‘TT’ stands for ‘twin tube’ - the familiar tapered mouthpipe is carefully mounted within a heavier outer sleeve. Although Conn experimented with this in the 1930’s, the Concept TT’s design is clearly inspired by Selmer’s own US Patent #2,181,346, which describes a process for mounting components of the trumpet using outer tubes to obviate the effects of heat on the working parts of the instrument during assembly. There is little, if any, direct tension on the mouthpipe, allowing the trumpet to resonate - to sing more freely.
The Concept TT was born of the celebrated, yet still somehow underrated Chorus Series 80-J produced by Selmer in the 1990’s, and has inherited the strong sonic qualities associated with the Selmer reputation. The Concept TT is indeed a Selmer in more than name - it is also a Selmer in spirit!

A LEGACY
Sole owner is a respected Los Angeles composer and trumpet player. Rarely did this leave his home studio, Brass Mavens is told. He has been reviewing his collection, and has decided to release this one. It is in pristine condition and has been well cared for.
FOR THE PLAYER OR SERIOUS COLLECTOR
This trumpet really sings! Feels open in all registers and has a wide dynamic range. Solid core, rich in overtones with a warm tone that will make the audience swoon. It would make an intimate jazz horn as well as a bombastic big band player.
The action on these pistons is lightning fast, buttery smooth, yet very quiet - more than living up to Selmer's reputation for quality valves. Felted water key levers are a thoughtful detail, and elevate the playing experience. This Concept TT is exemplary, and is just wonderful to hold and play.
