The Model 905 Bb “Pocket” trumpet by Kanstul was based on the legendary Benge design - refined by Zig Kanstul during his tenure at Benge, and further refined as he built instruments under his own name. The Kanstul pocket trumpet exhibits Zig’s legacy of quality craftsmanship and exceptional sound, and this particular instrument holds historical significance as one of the last batch produced before the closure of the Kanstul factory. The serial number is 52XXX, putting the manufacture date in June of 2018. This horn has never seen the inside of a retail store as it was purchased directly from the factory.

This horn is in excellent condition, with very light use by its sole owner. It shows no dents, scratches or wear, and has great compression and smooth valve action.

With a full-size diameter 5X bell and medium large .460" bore, the Model 905 pocket trumpet has the rich sound, outstanding intonation and quick response associated with Kanstul professional trumpets. It features a full-size 4 7/8" bell diameter. Big sound, open blow and compact size makes this a great travel companion as well as a working man's horn.

This fabulous model was played by the legendary Don Cherry and by NOLA singer-trumpeter Shamar Allen, and is considered one of the best pocket trumpet designs ever produced.

Specs from the Kanstul website:

A word about the seller: He is a private man these days but he is a longtime friend close to the Kanstul family. Check out that last photo! There he is on the right, playing alongside Zig Kanstul, Jr. in the 1968 Velvet Knights! Not only that, our seller worked a full time job at the Olds factory in Fullerton. There is more than a little love and history in this little horn.

NOTE: This trumpet has a tiny acid bleed at the bell rim, as well as a unique craquelure in the lacquer. However, due to the provenance we feel these minor flaws add character to this already special instrument. In fact, the craquelure in the lacquer picks up the light, much in the same way the Olds Military models did, though without all the dents.
