Corporation 229L with a Yamaha Chicago II pipe and tuning slide. I had Kevin Powers install the pipe and slide. When he did that, he also fabricated the pinky hook and 1st valve thumb ring. Notice that he suspended the pinky hook like the Yamahas to keep the majority of the hook off the leadpipe. He rounded the bell bow and left it slightly pointed up to open the blow. Kevin also made the Bb valve slide spacers and the tuning slide extensions. They are made in the Schilke style; you’ll notice that they are designed to place the gaps created by the slide to be in the correct position for a Bb trumpet. The Bach Bb tuning slide leaves the gap where the C slide sits. This design really plays like a true Bb.

Then, I sent the horn to Ken Larson and had him perform his version of the Malone refit with the extended bell ferrule and moveable braces on the bell and lower tuning leg.
