With Video Review. A REALLY nice playing trumpet here; I'm pretty sure this was built by Kanstul (and it's a great build) with Cannonball specs and a final tweaking. I bought this from a very nice father in Texas; he bought this trumpet new for his son, and the boy just did not like playing the trumpet. So he bought him a nice French Horn...The boy didn't like French Horn. 'It has almost no playing time on it,' the Dad said... And I belive it. Very, very low mileage on this trumpet. Compression is like new, valves (excellent feel) are like new, 100% bright silver plate, slides are great. I've seen demo horns with more wear.
This trumpet has a very light bell - and it projects beautifully. I've always preferred light brass bells - I think they are the most shapable for different sounds with different mouthpieces. I suppose the video (link below) will prove this or not; but I think it's a mouthpiecs sensitive horn. Easy blow, not as open as the Large bore Radial that I have for sale in another ad, but this is NOT a tight player either. I love the valves; superb feel, and the valves have brass valve guides too. This trumpet also comes with two (2) tuning slides; one D shaped and one a bit mroe radial. The bottom caps are slightly weighted, likely to offset the lightweight bell.
I've had about 5 Cannonball trumpets previously; they've all been well made. Those I had previously were made by B&S and they were excellent players. This trumpet is quite different; valves have a more buttery feel, the bell is thinner, this leadpipe is different... This is an easy horn to alter your blow, your mouthpiece, your sound on. And $1495 is a GREAT price for this trumpet in this condition. Check Cannonball trumpets now at Ebay and Reverb; I could easily ask $1995 for this one.
