This Bach 7-10-62 is a gem. Serial number 2552, this trumpet was completed in 1934, and is a 7-10 bell with a .462 (Large) Bore, and a No. 6 leadpipe. Lacquer is in excellent condition, with no sign or rot or corrosion visible to me. There appear to be spots of uneven lacquer oxidation or application, almost appearing as a drip or wave, but this appears to be consistent with lacquer of this era and type. It is probable that this trumpet was re-lacquered from an original, raw brass finish sometime in the 1950s. All engraving and stamping on this trumpet is bright and crisp, with no signs of polishing or buffing. In fact, the stamps are so crisp, and the lacquer has such patina, that I initially thought this to be the original lacquer. Unlike recently restored trumpets, this lacquer has that rich, chocolatey patina that is stunning to behold. Valves have strong compression and plating is excellent. All numbers match on the valve pistons. The leadpipe may have been repaired or worked on at some point, decades ago, please see photos for precise condition. If you would like any specific photographs, please let me know and I will be more than happy to send you plenty. I have more than 30 high-resolution photos and videos I can share via text or Google Drive.

These large bore New York Bachs are incredibly playable and unlike the more common small and medium bore counterparts, are very useful in modern settings. This horn has incredible depth and openness to it’s sound, and is extremely easy to play. It really opens up above the staff, but remains warm and full in all registers. I believe it could use an alignment, but this could be easily done to the new owner’s preference. I have left this trumpet completely as-is.

The mouthpiece included is an original NY Bach 10-1/2C, a piece that I have personally always liked. Rim and cup are clean, shank is round.

The original NY Bach case is in excellent condition, with strong clasp action and a light must odor to the velvet, which is common in these instruments. Storage compartment contains two period correct lyres and mute holder. The case has the owner’s initials present, and a tag with his full name on one end, which will remain confidential except to the buyer.

This is a very rare opportunity to purchase an excellent condition, highly practical and desirable large bore New York Bach trumpet. This is truly the finest original NY Bach trumpet I have ever come across. Please reach out to me with any questions. This is a unique opportunity for both serious collectors and players. I am more than happy to provide any additional information, photos, or videos you may like. I do not accept returns, but am willing to set up a play test in Connecticut, should you desire. Please see my other listings for vintage mutes and mouthpieces. Shipping cost is actual shipping cost and insurance. Payment via check (will ship as soon as it clears), Money Order, or Cashier's/Bank Check.
