Trumpeter Jason Logue has grown to be one of Canada’s finest trumpeters and composers. He has performed or recorded with such artists as Sam Rivers, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Dave Brubek, Phil Nimmons, Dave Grusin, Rob McConnell, Louis Belson, Kenny Wheeler, Guido Basso, Jim McNeeley, Dave McMurdo, Michael Occhipinti, Manteca, Kevin Turcotte, William Carn, Lina Allemano, Campbell Ryga, Hillario Duran, Lori Cullen and Barry Romberg.
At Present Jason is playing with David Clayton-Thomas, The Paul Read Orchestra, The Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra, The Hilario Duran Latin Jazz Big Band, Andy Ballyntynes Large Ensemble, Nimmons and Nine Now, The Rex Hotel Orchestra, N.O.J.O. , Random Access Large Ensemble, The Bob Rice Latin Big Band, The Tiny Alligator Big Band, The Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra, The Galaxy All Star Orchestra, And His Own Band, The JLO 6....Ok, it is really the Jason Logue Sextet.
As a freelance trumpeter, Jason has backed up artists such as Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli, Shirley Bassey, The Funk Brothers, Johnny Mathis, Jeff Healey, Mary Wilson, Bernadette Peters, Marie Osmond, Ben Vareen, Hal Linden, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Bobby Vinton, Little Anthony and the imperials, The Temptations, The 4 Tops, The Platters, Maureen McGovern, Robbie Lane and the Deciples, The Coasters, Martha Reeves, The Spinners, Frankie Valli, Fabian and Bobby Ridell.
Jason has also performed in the Toronto productions of the musicals Dirty Dancing, Hairspray, The Last Empress, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, The Rat Pack, Ross Petty’s Cinderella, Jersey Boys, The Stratford Festival Production of West Side Story and the Shaw Festival Productions of Mack & Mabel and Wonderful Town. As well, Jason has performed with the National Arts Center Orchestra as a guest 1st trumpet for many pops concerts.
Recently, Jason had the privilege of playing lead on the CTV recording of the original Hockey Theme with the brass section from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as well as playing in the section with Dave Dunlop (Lead) and Steve McDade for the Recording of the NEW CBC Hockey Night in Canada Theme Song. What a Gas!
Jason is currently on the Faculty at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario and the National Music Camp Jazz Division. |
