| I am a come back player after 36 years without touching a horn. I only played 8 years through high school and two years in a local band. I was a decent player in our HS jazz band but with restricted upper register range D or E above the staff. I wish I knew then what I have learned recently. Of course we did not have internet back then 1975-1982. I am trying to correct the bad habits formed back then but having trouble with endurance, tonguing, slotting and lips shutting down to swelling even though I am being very conscious not to apply too much pressure on the chops and stay relaxed. Seems like an uphill battle. |
