Since 1979 participate in the foundation of some of the Italian most interesting jazz and avant-garde groups: DOM (collaborations with Muhal R. Abrhams, A. Braxton, Ran Blake, Jeanne Lee), Nexus with T Tononi, P. Dellaporta, D. Cavallanti and P. Minafra, SixMobiles with Roberto Ottaviano, Streams with T.Ghiglioni and various projects guided by B.Tommaso, E Rava, G.Trovesi, F D ' Andrea, P.Fresu, P.Tonolo and others. During these same years it was first trombone and soloist in the orchestra Toscana Jazz Pool directed by Dave Holland, David Murray, Dave Liebman and collaborated with Steve Lacy and Keptorchestra in Venice.
In 1989 was invited to play in the National Orchestra of Jazz (ONJ) in Paris directed by Claude Barthelemy with whom it played during two years in France and abroad, with also the recording of two CD for Label Blue.
Gave impulse to an important movement of jazz in China, by teaching, taking part in the creation of the "Festival of jazz lntenational of Beijing" and forming the first Chinese orchestra of contemporary jazz (Beijing Jazz Unit) with the best musicians of jazz of the area of Beijing, conducting it in two editions of the festival and at the festival of Asian Arts of Hong Kong.
Formed the Atempore trio with A.Tavolazzi and S.Arguelles and recorded on CD a synthesis of his experiences. He also collaborates and records with, the orchestra of Tony Rusconi and takes part in several concerts under the direction of Carla Bley with Steve Swallow.
More recently started performing as soloist of Slide Trumpet in his own project, "The Mystic Trumpeter" with Carla Marcotulli and Cameron Brown. |
