Thanks for this great thread. You tested my patience with the case delays but I'm positive that the wait was worth it. I have mine ordered and am told it will be available in under 30 days.
Any bronze valve blocks coming for trumpets? |
Who did you put your order through? Just curious. As for the future projects with the bronze valve blocks, well, that's for another thread... _________________ Adam R. Getzen

I have been in and around this thread since the beginning, but only since a few posts ago did I begin to think I might actually be able to own one! I am really anxious to hear from new owners as these make their way into players hands. There is no shortage of fine flugels in this world, but Getzens are made here in the USA, which still appeals. _________________ veery715

I couldn't agree more. Being in the automotive industry, I preach "buy American". This does not include Hondas, etc. that are built in Ohio and the likes. _________________ Veteran comebacker!

Dear Mr. Getzen et.al.,
I want to thank you for this most interesting travel down the production road. It started soon after concept and continued through to launch, including the un-foreseen delays with cases and mpcs. Having been down this road several times myself, I found it enlightening to see someone else develop a great product only to have it delayed at the end for some ancillary aspect. It is not unlike designing a car and having the first production run come off the line only to have shipment delayed because the trim pieces were misspelled by the vender. As always, I really enjoy the insights that your posts bring to this marketplace of ideas. The input from your artists is also very welcome and has sparked my interest in both of their work.
Your other input and answers to posters questions is also very helpful. BTW I am not a big fan of your horns. They just don't suit me personally. The only Getzens I own are a trumpet/cornet pair of deluxes made before you were born, (I'm a vintage guy so not really your market) but I am a HUGE fan of your postings here.
Keep fighting the good fight

Thanks for your post. Despite what some people might think I wanted this thread to educate people about our development process and company as a whole. You might not be a fan of our current horns but if you get the chance to play the 4895 I would love to hear what you think. _________________ Adam R. Getzen

Adam,
who the hell could NOT be a fan of your flugels and cornets? I loved the new horn when I tried it at ITG. _________________ (List horns here) |

Thank you Mr. Getzen. For all you hardcore Eternians out there, let me refine what I meant to say. I didn't say that the current Getzen line are not among the top brass instruments in the world. They have the best vales in biz, first class R & D and engagement with all of us. What I was trying to say was that I'm a vintage horn guy. Look at my signature. Not likely to ever by a new Getzen, a Super D is another matter. I love my 80 & 90.
Thanks again Adam. I read every thing you post. _________________ Conn 22B Trumpet

BTW I would love to swap my 20A for that beauty but I doubt if I'll ever find any takers on that deal _________________ Conn 22B Trumpet

Me too. Playing the horn (which is VERY nice) and talking to Adam were some of the highlights of my visit to NAMM in January. If you're in the market, this is definitely a horn to try. |

Thanks for the link! The new horn looks great. I hope it plays as well as it looks. I'm still a couple weeks away from a ship date......or so I'm told. _________________ Veteran comebacker!

I've got a tracking number!
I should have this new beauty by early next week. It has been a long wait and I'm sure it will have been worth it. _________________ Veteran comebacker!

Just a random thought about the Getzen flugels of olde...I bought brand new Getzen like 30 years ago, played it a bit, then stopped playing but kept my horns and took care of it once in a while. 30 years later, everything worked perfectly on it. How many products last 30 years, not many. |

I am very excited to hear your thoughts about it. Be sure to also let me know how you like (or don't like) the Griego mouthpiece and which leadpipe you prefer. _________________ Adam R. Getzen

Will do Adam!
Thanks for this thread and all that you did to bring this horn to market. As much as the ordeal frustrated me, I understand your desire to deliver nothing but the complete package. The dealer did mention that the case was very nice.
Have you gotten any feedback from other buyers yet? _________________ Veteran comebacker!

We have gotten feedback from a dealer that told us "everyone that tried the horn loved it". I think besides Nicole Sasser, Kiku Collins and Johnny Britt you might be the first to own one. _________________ Adam R. Getzen

I bought my Eterna flugel slightly used in 1979 and have played it now for 35 years. There are a few dings here and there, but the valves are still awesome and the horn plays very well. _________________ Bryan Fields

I've seen where it says something like, lifetime valve warranty, and have wondered what that means....
