Thanks Phil, I did check WWBW, but I was hoping someone could suggest a specific make and model that they use and like. _________________ Allen - 'Chops-in-Hotlanta'

I've had some issues with QwikTune (tried several samples; matched over a range of 40-50 cents, which I felt was too broad). Many have favorites (I use an older Boss) but I think most are good: Boss, Korg, Sony, Seiko, Peterson (anyone tried the new V-SAM?), etc. If you're looking for a tuner to help ear training, the Sabine Target system seems nice (I got one for my son in F and it's nice that a C is a C for him, even in F... ) If I had it to do over, I'd probably go for one of the combo tuner/metronome units just to avoid lugging two pieces around, buying two batteries, etc.

ARB: Didn't you have a CA-30? Korg also makes a multi-tonal model for different keyed instruments. Don't remember the model number. _________________ Jay S.

Thanks OCTA-C
I do have the CA-30, but it's always a note below the actual note being played; someone said because it's set for concert pitch (I'm not sure what this means). But I'd like to be able to play a C and see a C registered on the unit. I'm a come back player and need all the help I can get, so I'll take a look at some of the other Korg units you suggested. Thanks

The following claim transposition in their descriptions:
Korg OT-12

Yamaha TD-1

Sabine Target Tuner

The latter is the only one I've actually "used" (got one for my son, F Horn). The book which comes with it is pretty nice.
I'm sure there are many more -- I just did a quick check at Giardinelli. A search of on-line and other stores (e.g., WW&BW, Osmun, BrassBow, Springfield, Tulsa, AMS, IMS, Dillons, etc etc etc) will probably get you quite a list.

Don, I may have to look at that Korg OT-12 looks like it may work. Thanks for the help. _________________ Allen - 'Chops-in-Hotlanta'
