In my (almost) daily excursion to eBay I have come across two interesting Conn cornets, one more rare and in better condition than the other. One with a very low bid, the other one moving quickly.
Anyone here have a vested interest in NOT revealing these possible gems?

Which two Conns are you referring to Christine? _________________ Philip Satterthwaite

OK, here goes:
This is a 12A Coprion, currently for $19.50. It is a bit worse for the wear, but still.... $19.50? Maybe someone is waiting 'till one hour before close?

And this is the best 48A Connqueror (Long Cornet! See other topic) I have ever seen on my eBay travels:

Bell rim is a bit out of shape (rimless, you know), but still, you don't see'em like this very often. This one is going to go high ($ wise) I suspect. Beware, Marty Schmitt has his eyes on this one....

If that Conn cornet is Coprion (and the serial number places the date of manufacture either 1947 or 48 which is correct for the Coprion) I wonder why it's not advertised as such? Those things normally go for $250 and up! Could be interesting to watch the play on this one. |

My guess would be it isn't advertized as such because the seller has no idea what it is or how much it is worth.
I used to ccasionally drop these sellers a line and tell them what model it is (at least). But that rarely elicits a response, so I have stopped doing that... until the next time "it is too painful to watch"

It may be painful to watch, but I have always managed to get over it enough to bid....picked up a 1942 12-B with Coprion bell for under 50.00, great old horn, but it will take a new laquer job and some bell repair to get it right. I probably should feel guilty for getting some of these cheap, but there are 4 kids in the beginner band program right now with great old horns, so I tend to get over it. |
