Can you identify this trumpet?

The player is William Thieck who was Principal Trumpet with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra from 1912-1920 and Principal with the San Francisco Symphony 1920-1921.

Any comments would certainly be appreciated by his granddaughter, Lori.

Looks sort of like this old York, but not exactly.

I looks like a very early H. N. White "King" which used a shepherd's crook bell.

This is it! It even has Wm. Thieck's photo and an endorsement note on the advertisement!

Awesome! Thanks very much for your help in finding the specific details of this instrument. I'll update the other post to let William Thieck's granddaughter know that we have a match!

WOW! Thanks so much to everyone who is helping with this...

Wondering if this is what the family referred to as Grandpa's "silver trumpet?" He had gold one also.

I can make out enough of the wording that I see something about....St. Paul Symphony/orchestra (1st trumpet/principal trumpet) under his name.
(So I guess that shows he DID play principal trumpet for St. Paul as well as Minneapolis!

I have newspaper clipping or two here of him endorsing another type of trumpet he bought, also...and a pic of him standing with it.... (no crook in this one though.)..Will scan that one asap, when scanner decides to work again.

Lori,

I can send you pdf of a coupla full pages with references to the Minneapolis Symphony. Our local paper subscribes to a newspaper service that allows searches of full text, not just a hand built index, but a full search. There were only six hits for Grampa.

Would love to receive jpg of news articles/reviews, etc. e-mail: Reverse my first and last name (no spaces)@yahoo.com)...Derek has it and might forward, as he'd know how to post them to this site also..and I don't. Dave H. also is interested in having material sent to him for his book.

I am so grateful for this site and all the support/interest/time you all are giving to it and to those like me, who are hungry for information. I've truly been blessed. Contacting Derek opened up a new world to me....Dave is honoring my Grandpa by including his bio in his book!!!! WOW.....Won't name everyone, but you know who you are and THANKS A MILLION!
I loved the quote on prior post about bacteria being the only culture some people may have.....Being a nurse, I got a good chuckle from reading that!
