Let me admit my ignorance here. I had a Bach Strad in high school, but at the time had no idea there were various models and styles, such as Mt. Vernon, etc.
I've seen posts for model 37, model 72, etc., and am curious to know what I played so many years ago. I'd like to educate myself in knowing the differences and subtleties between the horns.
Beleive it or not, I remember the serial number being 36150 ML. The horn had a first valve trigger.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, for old time's sake!

Your trumpet was made in Elkhardt, Indiana (not Mt. Vernon, NY or New York City, NY) in the late sixties. You wouldn't know if it had a 37, 43, 72, or some other bell unless you actually remember what was engraved on your bell next to the word, Model. Even though the Model 37 bell was the most popular, you could have had a trumpet made with a different shape bell.
You could contact Selmer, give them the serial number, and they might be able to look up in their records which bell was on your trumpet. |

If I had to guess, you probably had a model 37 bell. They are the most popular model of Bach Strads, I think..... but I could be wrong. _________________ J. Fowler

If you want to know more, you can always go to the Selmer site and work your way down to the Stradivarius trumpets. There are some helpful PDF files there that set out more information about the various models. Most of the models previously mentioned also are available with lightweight bells and can be identified by a star after the model number. The main page is http://www.selmer.com.
