Well, if any of you remember my original posting...."Fat Girl, Fat Girl" is out. Too much chance of creating an ill wind, if you know what I mean. When you think of it, how many sailors might have heard of Fats Navarro and, of that small number, how many would recognize his nickname or the song named for him.
And now, the drum roll please....My little 22' cutter will forever be hailed as..."Silent Way" ... in honor of the great Miles Davis. Thanks again. And of course, always support live jazz. kpb |

Nice name - what make of boat is it?
Doing a bit of boating as well (very strange looks abound when you sail past people with trumpet in hand!!) I am just as interested in the make of boat as the trumpet.
I have played in a quintet with all the members arriving by boats!
If you are ever on the canals of England, look out for us!

| Trumpetmike...it is a Blackwatch 22....19' on deck with a 3' bowsprit. The design was based on a traditional English Channel mail packet. It is rigged as a cutter, draws 24" with a slightly cutaway forefoot and long, shallow (but squared and wide at the bottom) keel with no centerboard or swing keel, and she sails very nicely. Designed and built by Dave Autrey in Texas, USA. There were about 70 built in the late 70's and some have sailed to Cuba and South America. I am very lucky to have found this one for sale. It was used as a daysailer and was used very little and very well cared for. |
