I've tried every "practice mute" there is ... this one is "THE BEST".

As we all know, having to use a practice mute really sucks. However this thing is the closest "feeling" to playing open I've ever found.

They can be ordered from the Reeves website ... http://www.bobreeves.com ...

Any questions ... contact me.

Regards

Could you speak more about this mute? Do you have any pictures? I went to the site and there is no info about it except for the price on the order menu.

Have you ever seen, or read, where guys are making practice mutes out of "Renewzit" air freshener? Very similar!

Its small, like a small straight mute. Very light dark brown plastic. The guys at Reeves perfected this thing beautifully. It does sound a little louder than some practice mutes however I have yet to hear a complaint!

And as I said, feels the closest to playig "open" of any practice mute I've ever played on.

I have and enjoying using the Brass Spa Practice Mute. The first thing I noticed was how much it resembles one of those homemade "Renewzit" mutes (which I understand are also very nice). I did seem a bit pricey at $24.95 (plus about $5 to $7) shipping BUT it does play open and fits nicely in my pocket trumpet case. The URL is as follows:

http://www.bobreeves.com/brassspa/mute.htm

I definitely recommend it---<Rick

I've been very happy with my BrassSpa practice mute as well. I can't really say anything besides backup what has been said above.

Hey Mike,

The bottom monkey I guess.

I prefer to keep my ears open, my eyes open but my mouth, shut! Especially on a gig! Lot's of politics in this business.

There's a pub up in Anchorage Alaska I went to one time. Can't remeber the name of it, but the motto of the place was, "A Wise Monkey Never Monkeys With Another Monkeys, Monkey".

HA HA HA HA !!!

Anyway, back to the Bras Spa practice mute. For those of you that feel brave down in the bottom of the mute there are 3 pink plastic rings. Try pulling them out one at a time. With each one out, the mute gets even less resistant, however a little louder. ***Proceed with caution*** ... you might not be able to get them back in!

Regards

I bought one of these in may from CAMBRASS and it is the best practice mute I have found. My wife also likes it.

Not as much back pressure as many of the others. Perfect for warming up on.
