What's the deal on the Courtois flugelhorns?

There are three of them, new, on ebay at about half of list price (at $1,250 as compared to $2,550 SRP), but no one seems interested.

I've read these are excellent horns and 50% off sounds like a good price.

So what gives?

Don't know. I picked up this horn this summer, and have been happy with it. Of course, I paid a lot less than MSRP and not much more than what these horns are listed for on Ebay.

There's nothing wrong with the Courtios Flugels. They are probably used in more top Brass Bands than any other these days. They just aren't as good as the Conn V1, so look expensive.

Try a V1 before you buy. I think the "street" prices are close.

If you have an opportunity try the Kanstul Flugelhorn. It is the best that I have ever played. The Conn V1 is outstanding as well.

You can pick up a used Courtois generally from Wichita Band Instruments from $645 to $945
