transcriptions FREE on-line just to practice with. I'm not good enough yet to need a whole book of songs, so just a song or two will be enough.

thanks

Here's a site that has a few free offerings, although most of the printable downloads come only with a $20 membership:

Thanks Jim, I think I'll start with that "Flight of the Bumble-Bee" piece just to get started, just kidding.

Thanks for the site post, I think this will be real helpful.

As I mentioned in another forum, an excellent source of free material is your public library. You'd be surprised what you can find in their music section.

Also, here's a link to some teriffic jazz transcriptions, more than 200 of them, mostly from swing-era players:

Free stuff is always nice, but for well under $20 you can pick up song books with about 10 or 12 songs with a CD with back ground music from http://www.windmusicplus.com. I have bought several over the past couple years for all different occasions. Alot of duets too.
Or check out ebay. Some of the song books go real cheap.

My new book has 174 songs in it, including 33 Christmas and holiday songs.
$14.95

thanks for the link Jim. I'm not much on playing transcriptions, but it's interesting to see how those guys played the various tunes... I'm sure there are tons of great "ideas" that one could borrow from to help with improvising.
