I am not happy with my present trumpet and need a new one, my teacher has advised me to get a custom built Lechner piston. Does any one own one and how are they getting on with it ? Are they generally made from scratch or from the valve block of a Bach ?
Any info would help !
Thanks |

Hi,
I haven't had any experience with Lechner instruments, but my teacher has a lechner leadpipe on his Strad C 238 - and it is a beautiful instrument with power, great intonation and response and best of all a wonderful warm burr to the sound at loud dynamics that really projects! Apparently many of his playing colleagues have them on their Cs too. |

welshboy,
I happen to have a Lechner piston-valve piccolo (shameless plug: it´s for sale!), and it is a gorgeous little horn, great sound and very well made. Mine has Bauernfeind valves, but they usually have a selection of valves from different manufacturers to choose from. I have seen a Lechner with Benge valves and another with Schilke valves.
Lechner has a website, BTW:

I´m sure they will be happy to answer all your questions. _________________ All the best
