Does a bass trumpet (getzen or bach) take the same MP - MP, shank, etc - as a Bb? I've read here that playing the bass horn is fun and helpful in developing chops.
I'd welcome info on the MP question and any tales of the bass trumpet.
Thanks |

Hi, I have a Getzen Bass Trumpet, which uses a Baritone or Trombone mouthpiece. I use a Bach 11C. It is a good way to warm up, but really feels "different" going back to a trumpet mouthpiece. Supposedly, Bud Herseth liked to warm up with a Bass Trumpet.
Enjoy

I think Bud said in ITG he used it to warm down, not warm up. |
