Hello all,
I have heard alot about these horns and have noticed they can be had for a reasonable ammount of bread. I was wodnering if anyone out there has any experiance with these horns. I have a naturally bright sound and and looking for a horn that will dark and warm but will also be bright when pushed. Thanks for your time. -Haplo _________________ "... and when I got all done he said, 'Well you're my next principal trumpet player.' And I said, 'Okay, I'll go home and practice.'" -A. Herseth |

I could have written the first part of that sentence . . . that's me! I've played a large bore Bach with a Schilke 24 mpc and still sounded very bright.
When I decided that bright is right (for me) and just went with it, I became "afraid" of horns that would take away my brightness. And when I picked up an Olds Recording about a year ago and tried it, I immediately thought that it made me sound too dark.
When I picked it up again a few minutes later and went for it (played high and loud, that is), I realized that this horn gives me exactly what I want it to. If I want to play gentle & smooth in the middle/lower register, that's what I get. If I want to sizzle and cut through the band (in my case, bury the band), that's what I get.
For me, this is the best horn, and I got mine for $750.00 . . . it's a 1964 in original condition and I am finally satisfied that I have the best possible horn that money can buy.
Welcome to Trumpet Herald!
