That is an interesting idea!!
Maybe if piccolo players use a piccolo trumpet mouthpiece, they would stay more in tune!!!!

It's been 16 days since auction's end. I wonder if Priscilla has gotten it yet and will she let us know if it plays, and was the trumpet mouthpiece it came with worth $34, and does she plan on buying a replacement picc mouthpiece to make it into a playable piccolo? _________________

I like my Laskey!! Maybe Scott can make a custom PIC model to fot that one.
That one caught me off guard though seriously! The craziest combination I had ever seen before was a tuba player taking my horn one day claiming he could actually play it better than me. He said he couldn't play on my mouthpiece though, so he put his on it. Man did that ever look funny! He played a low G scale on it one octave though .... that's HIGH for a tuba player!!
Thought I would share that. _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

Hey,
Here we go...
Back in high school I dated the piccolo player (kill me later, listen for now). She always used to have me try and play the picc but I could never do it. So one day I plugged in my trumpet piece and started playing the piccolo just like that. It didn't sound the same, but the notes did change in accordance (or something close to it) with the pushing of the little doo dads there.
Problem solved,

It didn't even look like a piccolo, just the first 1/2 of a normal flute (missing the foot end).
Pair of Kings - help us out here!

ok - to answer your questions.
well it sure was disgusting. which i didn't really notice how black the inside of the mouthpiece until I tried for 2 seconds to toot it. The keys didn't really seem to affect the pitch but maybe just bad mechanics.
It's an Artley piccolo (minus head joint) and a Mt. Vernon 7C which wasn't stuck.
Not sure what the potential is. First is about 2 days in the ultrasonic tank. I did have thoughts of putting the piccolo in saleable condition. Or maybe I'll have alll the keys closed permanently and use it for leadpipe buzzing.
The mouthpiece isn't nicked or bent and it is hard to tell about the plating. I guess if it's tarnished, there's still silver on it. I don't think 7 C is too rare but I might clean it up and throw it back on e-bay.
just a dumb bid. |

If it were any size other than a 7C I bet you'd make your $34 back just on the mouthpiece. You still may, because lots of people believe that just like the horns, the Mt Vernons are better than the more recent Bachs. _________________
