A "D"-String maybe .... I could sell every (Great) horn I own and still not have enough for that one Bb .... that I never played before.
So, I think not at this time! _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

i love the way this horn looks but as i look at it i wonder if i would have the strength to lift it and play it.
it looks like it must weight a ton and don't even ask about the bore size!!!???
i guess i won't buy it

Do you really think there is such a horn that can replace the almighty "Max"? _________________ Bb - Yamaha Xeno 8335RGS

Wow - the third TH thread I've seen about the same auction! (Really!) James, I remember you being staunchly anti Monette, based mostly on their stratospheric pricing. I personally would get a real kick out of you going from Monette basher to Monette clinician and hearing you play clips on Monette's site. I hope you get your IT job back, or win the lottery, or become the next Miles! _________________

i love Monette, but i can't afford one.
it's unrequited love.
i think they are the prettiest horns out there!
i do wonder if i would have the physical power to play one.
i often wonder if there is a cult following where the horn becomes a totem rather than a tool.
i also have not heard any Monette player(terrance, wynton) who sounds all that good.
i got a real bad case of sour grapes.
