|
|
Hi Everybody,
I was curious if anyone has tried/does use the Balanced Embouchure system with a Monette mouthpiece? Or is this even possible. I'm not sure if this is a dumb question. One of the first players in my symphonic band uses the BE system on a wedge mouthpiece. He started talking to me about it and got me curious. I've done some research, also. Thanks for any replies.
Thanks,

I have not, except when I tried a friend's, but BE is mouthpiece-agnostic.
For that matter, I can think of only one or two methods that have suggested a particular mpc. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

While I'm not currently doing any of the exercises from Jeff's book, I own a copy, read most of it (if not all of it) and have done some of the exercises early in the book. I don't see where using (or not using) any particular brand of mouthpiece is relevant to this approach to trumpet playing.
So have at it with your Monette. |

There is a comment in BE about mpcs, and he recommended taking a look at one specific mpc. I believe it's a 7C-ish mpc and it's, to the best of my knowledge, no longer available commercially. However, that is for the sake of a point of departure for some (more likely beginning and intermediate) players.
As mentioned above, the system as such is mpc agnostic. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

That's funny because I've never been able to do the BE exercises with a Wedge mouthpiece. Something about the rim shape doesn't work right for me.

I think the Wedge is a design that helps people to "play around" common embouchure problems that could likely be fixed by BE. |

I tried a wedge last year just to see what it was like....didn't do anything for me. I actually got better results with the wedge when I played it oriented the opposite direction of what they suggest. _________________ Brian Gibson |
