I just saw him perform at the San Jose Jazz Fest. I still can't believe what I saw. He is the real deal and totally unbelievable. He played long, long melodic solos that were absolutely incredible.

Just wanted to elaborate that it's not even his age either. I have heard little kid savants play piano, a million notes and all that. But if I had not even seen that Geoff was a kid, I would still say that it was one of the most impressive trumpet performances I have ever heard. Every solo was literally a masterpiece. Unless he has memorized hundreds of perfect solos (which I guess could be true), the guy is improvising beyond belief.

I was able to see him perform at TBA in San Antonio, and afterwards I talked with him quite a bit. He is very intelligent. The way he presents himself is outstanding. I've met adults that didn't have as good social and communication skills.

Great you guys were able to see him. I wasn't able to this year, he was close, well kind of, San Antonio and New Orleans, but too far away for me to work it in.

Geoff keeps getting better and better!

It would be interesting to know how Ryan Kisor compared to Geoff Gallante at the same age. I heard a recording of Ryan when he was about sixteen and he was a monster player by that age. I realize that Geoff has a few years to go before he's sixteen but how far he's come compared to Ryan at a similar age would be a good indicator of where Geoff may end up. Does anyone know anything about Ryan's skill level when he was Geoff's age?
