Long time Callet student, Bahb Civiletti, has released a new CD, "Music of the Italian Baroque. Bahb plays both Natural and Baroque trumpet on the CD. Inlcudes 18 pieces from Fantini, Scarlatti, Torelli, etc. Articulation is particularly amazing. I'm not particularly well versed in this era let alone these horns, but I was very impressed with the performance. Info and ordering, for anyone interested, can be done through BaroqueBahb@aol.com or call at 973-347-6236

Kyle,

Bahb sent me this CD as a present. Wow - can the man play!

He also allowed me to publish 5 sound clips in MP3.

I wrote a little article about it and placed it here:

http://abel.hive.no/trumpet/articles/buccina/

.. not a full review as you will see...
.. but there is a copy of a more comprehensive review from the Historic Brass Society Newsletter there as well.

Ole

P.S.
Bahb is IMO a living proof that "the tongue-controlled embouchure" delivers! Centered, full sound .. and listen to his low register!!

I forgot to mention:

Listen to the duets played by Immer and Civiletti!

"The intonation is so flawless that often one
hears many more instruments than are really playing."

* 07. "a due Tromba detta del Ricasoli"

* 10. "Gagliarda a dua Tromba detta del Coppoli"

Ole

Hi

Thanks for the effort on this OJ and Kyle. I just went and listened to the clips and the awesome "La Vittotia Segue" is astounding listening to the "all lip trills" done by Civiletti on that beast of a natural trumpet.
I once rehearsed this on a 4 valve pic with Alandra Dean many years ago but never got to perform it.
So I know what a chop bustin piece that is even on the more easily played modern pic trumpet.

I noticed that Edward Tarr has recently released an endorsement for Mr Callet's TCE book!

As always aatozhvac@cs.com

Could I ask some of you for a favor?

Those of you who listened to the MP3 files I uploaded at this page:

http://abel.hive.no/trumpet/articles/buccina/

... could you mail Civiletti and tell him what you think?
(Supposing you liked his playing)

Why?

First of all to give him feedback as a musician, but...
..he is not very computer skilled and is not able to listen to the MP3 files.

I guess he thinks no one else is able to listen to it ...

His email is: BAROQUEBAHB@aol.com

Regards,

Ole

P.S.
Lee, a far as I know, Ed. Tarr has translated the whole T.S. into German.
