You might want to go to the Woodwind and Brasswind Website and check on availability & price http://www.wwbw.com

If you goto Kanstul.com and follow the links you can find their mouthpiece comparator, which allows you to visually examine the size and shape of various mouthpieces. Bach is B if I remember correctly, your mouthpiece would be B7C. If youre looking for a new 'piece, why do you necessairily want one similar to your 7C? you might wanna try something a little bigger...maybe a 3C. Your best bet would be going to your local music store and trying some out (unless they have ridiculusly high prices like MINE does, then you try them out there, and order the one you like:)).

Going from a 7C to a yamaha 16C4 GP would be a big jump. I'm not saying that it is not possible, but you would be going from a small mouthpiece to a relatively large one. As mentioned above, I would try a 3C first. I also think you need to consider several things before switching. Why do you want to switch? What kind(s) of playing situtations are you playing in? And lastly, go with whatever sounds good and works for you.

If you really have to switch (let me guess: you want easier high range, more sizzle in your sound and a more forgiving rim?) and want to stay with the Bach 7 diameter, I´d suggest two pieces:
- Yamaha 11B4: really comfortable rim, a little shallower than the 7C, and just a great all around mouthpiece for all kinds of playing.
- Marcinkiewicz #7: an excellent piece as well, very easy to play, slightly tighter than your typical Bach or Yamaha, with a rich, sizzling sound. Marcinkiewicz uses a lighter than usual blank, and their mouthpieces are very responsive and give great feedback to the player.
Both mpcs are very reasonably priced (around $30). _________________ All the best

Although it saids 7c on my mouthpiece, the rim is a lot bigger than my other 7c mouthpiece, and I think its close to either 5c or 3c. |
