I was wondering if people could give me thier opinions on whch they think is the best single "soft" leather gig bag. I have had a reunion blues flugel bag for 10 years and love it, but am worried about the quality of their new bags. Protec make a deluxe leather bag(L-238) that looks good. What do people think??? _________________ http://giannimarinucci.wixsite.com/giannimarinucci

The Gard single trumpet case is excellent, you won’t be disappointed. _________________ Allen - 'Chops-in-Hotlanta'

I love my old RB single. The new RBs are as good as the old. I've seen some sniping about them, but it's coming from the former employees that are now making competing bags. I'd bet that ProTec, Giardinelli and most of the name competition is made in Asia. That's just the way it is these days.

gmaxe, I just noticed your 80J. Great horn! I also like your taste in flugels.
Anyway, did your 80J come with one of those light BAM cases? My TT did and I'm very pleased with that in terms of convenience, bulk and weight. The "coolness" factor doesn't compare with my 20-year old RB, but it IS nice, well made and protective. I use the shoulder strap and think that the convenience is close to the RB. I haven't tried the backpack straps, but they look convenient if you need to carry a ton of stuff.

My vote is for the Protec. With a hard plastic shell they're more protective than a standard gig-bag yet every bit as convenient. And the prices can't be beat. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. |

The hard case that comes with the 80J is beautiful. But it only really fits 1 mute!!! And it is quite big.It is not so practical for getting around when I only need my trumpet. Thanks for the advice. |

I agree Dave. The new bags are just fine. I got a burgandy leather RB single not too long ago and I just love the thing. Very well made. Even the packaging was done with care - all the fittings were covered to protect the leather. I'm very pleased.
