Hi,
Any opinions and information about the original Getzen Severinson would be much appreciated.

TIA

My first horn was a Getzen Severinsen model. I worked an entire summer in 1977 to buy that horn - it was worth it. I played it through high school and college. Not a music major, but it did everything I needed it to do. I have played almost every kind of horn imaginable and it would compare to them all. There are better horns, but for the money they are a great value proposition.

Hi Tia,
The Doc model Getzen came out in the mid sixties and became an instant hit with the jazz and swing players. I traded in my King Super 20 for one and have bought and sold many Getzens over the years. The Eternas all played well, had fast smooth valves and were a good value. The only negative thing about them is that they tended to fall apart from poor solder joints. You can still find them on Ebay for $400-$600 and for the money they're a great horn.
Try it, you'll like it!
Scott
