Do a search, they're been some previews, BUT not of the final horn. NAMM is almost here. The new models will be released then, since Bobby is going to the show to promote the new horn.

Dave:
Search where? I did a general Yahoo search on "Yamaha 8310z" and got only two entries, neither of which was a review or commentary on the prototype horn.
Are you talking about other trumpet sites? If so, which ones?
Thanks in advance! |

I looked at the Yamaha site and they have a description up for the 8310Z. It is the same description - with a slight change in wording as the 6310Z. I wonder what, if any difference there is between the horns.

Use the "Search" function here at TH. See it at the top of the page. Try "8310Z" for starters. It's an incredible utility that I use almost daily.

Thanks, Dave. I was already aware of the Trumpet Herald Forum's search function, and had already used it to check on 8310Z news. Guess I was hoping to hear about another source I hadn't seen yet.
Best,

The differences in the 8310Z are physically subtle, but sonically huge. They even feel WAY different...and better in my opinion.
The most notable difference is that the bell and the bead of the bell are completely different. He has been changing the bell on C trumpets and now the Bbs. The braces are different (though the brace placement and the number of braces is the same), the caps and buttons are different, and quite a few other things.
The trumpet is much more resonant than it's predecessor and has quite a life and ring to its sound. Its response is also quicker than the older model.
I think this trumpet is much more versatile than its predecessor and am confident that many players will really like it. One pretty famous classical soloist is using it right now as his Bb.
I had an opportunity yesterday to try six of the prototypes yesterday in a very quiet, private, location.
These horns will be well enjoyed.
